Hazardous Materials Response Specialist

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Hazardous Material Response Specialist to join our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Fire Protection team at the Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) site in Linthicum, Maryland.  The selected applicant will be responsible to lead the site’s hazardous materials response team and to support the site’s structural fire brigade and fire protection & life safety programs.  Requisition #R10031248 on Northrop Grumman Careers Website

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Leading/commanding the response to hazardous materials incidents (including toxic gas alarms)
  • Supporting and responding to fire incidents
  • Training hazardous materials response team members
  • Maintaining adequate fire brigade and hazardous materials response team supplies and monitoring equipment, including essential PPE required by NFPA and OSHA standards
  • Coordinating with outside emergency response teams to mitigate incidents quickly and efficiently to minimize production down time as well as assisting in recovery efforts
  • Supporting building evacuations
  • Supporting in-house and sector EHSFP audits

Additional roles and responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting periodic building fire safety inspections
  • Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems
  • Inspection, testing and maintenance of water based and special suppression systems
  • Inspection of new construction for building and fire code compliance
  • Supporting facilities engineering with construction plan reviews
