Safety Coordinator

Location: Union County, OH

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Corporate Safety Manager

Job Specifics: Mon-Fri/Full-time, onsite

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in investigating all company owned vehicle/commercial vehicle accidents, general liability claims, and other actions filed and coordinate with workers compensation stakeholders to supply necessary information to insurance company
  • Monitoring compliance of driver logs, driver qualification and vehicle maintenance files
  • Provide reporting and analytics to management and HSE to identify trends and implement strategies on how to reduce liability
  • Analyze current company policies and suggest revisions where necessary
  • Assist with managing FMCSA score and implementing corrective actions to improve company performance
  • Manage compliance with DOT/OSHA regulations with all Drivers, Field techs, shop mechanics, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all current federal, state, county and city requirements
  • Ensure that all licensing, permitting and registration are met and take appropriate actions to ensure that any non-compliance issues are resolved
  • Update and provide recommendations and solutions on new or changed regulations
  • Maintain shop, yard and field safety audits
  • Maintain employee records and share insights on reporting using our Safety Management System.
  • Develop and conduct employee health and safety trainings programs, including refresher trainings as required by regulations to go hand-in-hand with the current HSE program
  • Validate safety certifications training for all powered equipment utilized by employees
  • Update vehicle and employee files as needed
  • Conduct New-Hire training, Annual and Monthly training, and retraining on safety, compliance, and policy
  • Generate training reports
  • The employee will be required to preform physical tasks during field visits and inspections

Requisites:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in DOT related workplace
  • Knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT Regulations
  • Understanding of computer and IT systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including being able to prepare presentation materials and present and the information to a group
