Bio:
Vic is Director and Head of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) for AstraZeneca’s (AZ) Global Operations group. In that role, he leads the SHE
strategy for 28 manufacturing sites and 2 IT Tech Centers in 16 countries. In his nearly 35 years of experience, he has been in senior leadership roles, technical and subject matter expert roles, and a consultant coaching organizations in identifying, evaluating and controlling occupational safety and health hazards and risks to the environment. He has worked with a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, aerospace, heavy and light manufacturing, construction, and defense. He has been recognized by the ASSP IHPS as Safety Professional of the Year and by the Potomac Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association as Industrial Hygienist of the Year. Vic holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from Old Dominion University and a Master’s of Science in Engineering Management from The George Washington University. Vic is a former ASSP Industrial Hygiene Practice Administrator, has served on the Council of Standard and Practices, and has been an active member of the IHPS Advisory Committee since 2010.
Abstract:
Understanding when, how and…most importantly WHY…to do workplace exposure monitoring is critical to collecting the right information needed to evaluate and control workplace exposures. This presentation will review the anticipation, recognition and evaluation of workplace exposures; focusing on recognized processes for developing industrial hygiene monitoring strategies and methodologies for collecting the right information.
