Nominations and Elections Committee Notification

In accordance with our Chapter Bylaws the NOVA Chapter Nominations and Elections Committee for Chapter Years 2024-2025 has been appointed.

The newly appointed Nominations and Elections Committee will oversee the election of our 2025-2027 Chapter Executive Committee. Nominations and Elections Committee members are as follows:

Sara Hoover – Committee Chair

Jamie Kohler – Committee Member

Richie Haehn – Committee Member

Officer nominations are now being accepted for the July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027 term for the positions of:

President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary, Advisory Group Members

Eligibility Criteria (for more details refer to Chapter Bylaws):

President & Vice President Qualifications:

  • Must have been an ASSP member in good standing for at least one year prior to election and
  • Be either a Professional Member, Member or International Member of ASSP

Treasurer & Secretary Qualifications:

  • Must have been an ASSP member in good standing for at least one year prior to election
  • Can be a Professional Member, Member, International Member or Associate Member of ASSP

If you are interested in serving in one of these positions and meet eligibility criteria, please contact Sara Hoover, Nominations & Elections Committee Chair, via email (awards@nova.assp.org).  

All nominations must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025.

If required by the bylaws, the election for the 2025-2027 term will take place at the May membership meeting.

ASSP NOVA Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award

Now accepting nominations!

Dear NOVA Member,

The ASSP NOVA Chapter is now accepting nominations for NOVA Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award for the 2024-2025 ASSP NOVA Chapter year.

Nominate a fellow Chapter member you think has any of the following:

  • Exceptional or unique operational aspect of their safety employment
  • Demonstrated stellar technical expertise in safety
  • Demonstrated outstanding contributions to Chapter activities including committee chair and/or officer and/or demonstrated leadership in establishing, maintaining, and improving Chapter programs
  • Provided extraordinary service to members
  • Other unique contribution that advanced the safety profession

Nominating Procedures 

The nomination submission should include the following items:

  • The completed SPY nomination form and/or letter of endorsement from the nominating Member. You may self-nominate or nominate another member.
  • A one to three page resume of the nominee’s background.
  • A petition that lists in the order obtained the nominee’s achievements.  Achievements should be limited to the past 3-5 years.

Please submit your nominations by COB Friday, December 6th, 2024.  Nominations are due electronically to awards@nova.assp.org.  

Upon selection of a final candidate, the following items will be required for submitting a Regional SPY Application by the end of January, but are not needed before the December deadline:

  • A letter of endorsement from the nominee’s immediate employer supervisor.  This should be one page or less.
